Week 27 ( June 12 - 16)

 Goodbye Ducklings!!

This week, we said goodbye to our ducklings, as they headed back to the farm to continue with speedy growth and be with the other ducks.  Harry, Oreo, Pom Pom and Brownie walked down the hallway, in a DUCK walk to day goodbye.

In literacy this week, we finished our duck diaries by adding in a sandwich poem about Ducklings and adding the lifecycle of a duck.  Then we began our research about Ducks to help answer some of our questions that arose during the first days with our ducklings. In word work, we continued learning about suffixes such as 'er', 'or', and 'ar'.

In math this week we in math, our focus has been on Canadian Currency.  We worked on learning how to count money, coins and banknotes and well as the difference between writing money in French vs English. We also read a non-fiction book about the history of Canadian money and how it came to be in Canada.  On Friday, we completed a Counting Coins scavenger hunt, where the kids used the coin counting strategies to add up the total amount of coins pictured on each card.

Looking Ahead to Next Week:

1. In Literacy, we will focus on reading comprehension and writing a non-fiction paragraph about ducks.

2. In math, we will work on using equations to solve problems and review our multiplication and division skills.

3. In Science, we will continue with our Animal Life Cycle Unit, looking more at adaptations and endangered animals.

Important Reminders:

1. Please continue to work on your READO- home reading Bingo's

2. Spirit Day - Stampede Day on Friday, June 23rd

Happy Weekend,

Mrs. Stringer
