Week Nine ( Oct 30 - Nov 1)
In literacy this week, we began looking at poetry. We looked at various samples of poetry and created an anchor chart about poetry. Then we brainstormed facts we know about bats and read a story called Stellaluna that gave us many more facts about bats. Then we took what we learned and created our first poem about bats. Also, this week we began our first session with our literacy groups moving classrooms and meeting a new teacher to work on targeted phonics learning. On Friday, we worked on our buddy reading, sitting elbow to elbow and knee to knee with a partner.
In math this week, we continued learning about data management. We talked about different ways to gather data. We can gather it from first hand or second hand sources. We completed our first survey, asking the class what their favourite candy is.
In Science, we learned about the water cycle, and it's the important parts such as evaporation, condensation and precipitation. The grade 2/3's created a visual representation of the water cycle and what they learned about it in their visual journals.
