Week Ten ( Nov 5-8)

In literacy this week, we continued our focus on poetry.  This week we learned about a specific type of poetry, Acrostic poems.  We read different examples and then wrote our own poem about Remembrance Day.  We also continued with our focused literacy phonics groups.

In math this week, we continued our unit on data management.  This week we learned about pictographs, reading, interpreting and creating pictographs.  We also learned that each picture in a pictograph needs to be the same size and begin at the further left part of the graph.

In science, we finished up the last outcomes in our Science unit on matter.  This week we focused on what makes reversible and permanent changes.  We defined the meaning of both and looked at various examples together.  Then we did an experiment of mixing baking soda and vinegar together and capturing the gas it produced in a balloon.  We also explored and investigated reusable hand warmers and watched the chemical change that created heat.
