Week 14 (Dec 4-7)

Phew, it was a busy one, with visiting our Winter Market and the Book Fair all in one week!

In Literacy this week, we wrote a friendly letter to our parent volunteers to say thank-you for their help on our field trip.  We also continued our work with sentences, using conjunctions, because, but, and so.  This week, we practised orally before writing some sentences on our white boards.

In math this week, we continued our study of shapes.  The grade 2's focused on sorting 2D and 3D shapes using one or two attributes.  The grade 3's focused on recognizing polygons, regular, irregular and their correct names based on their number of sides.  We also explored Tangram puzzles, seeing how we could move 2D shapes to complete the puzzles.

In Social Studies this week, we finished our project on where we live in the world.  Ask your child what continent, country, province and city they live in.  On Thursday, we started mapping the countries and communities that will be our focus for the rest of the year.
