Week 29 (April 17-21)

In literacy this week, we continued to work on our story writing.  This week, we began working on our own story, brainstorming and planning the story elements.  Then we began writing our beginning and 'hooking' our audience.

In math this week, we continued working on geometry.  This week we focused on angles, types of lines (parallel, perpendicular and intersecting) and transformations.  The students used pattern blocks to flip, slide and turn their polygons.

In Science, we tested our bridges with the earthquake, load (weights), wind and car test. Many students ran into some struggles with their prototypes and used their knowledge of bridges to change and adapt their bridges to pass the tests.

In gymnastics this week, we had a fantastic week using the Calgary Climber and the various stations in the gym.  The grade 3's did an amazing job using the skills they used on the mats and applying them to the larger, more difficult equipment.  It was very impressive to see their creativity and strength as they moved their bodies in different ways.

Happy Weekend,
