Week 26 ( June 5 -9)

 Calgary Zoo Field Trip Week!

A special thanks to the parent council for funding our Bus and Field Trip program at the Calgary.

In Literacy, this week we continued with our Duck Diaries.  The grade 3's did a wonderful job writing for the different ducklings perspectives and how they see the world, while they went out in the grass and swim in their kiddy pool.  We also learned about the suffixes, 'ly' and 'ist' and completed a word sort.

In Math this week, we continued our study of perimeter and measurement.  We practised using problem-solving to figure out the measurement of sides that were missing.  On Thursday, we completed our quiz on our measurement unit.

In Science this week, we continued with our Animal Life Cycle unit by visiting the zoo.  The grade 3's had a wonderful time at the zoo, they completed a scavenger hunt, searched for different types of animals and sketched their favourite animal in their visual journal.  We also learned that animals are classified on how and what they eat as well.  We learned what herbivore, carnivore and omnivore mean and added to our animal Lifecycle booklet.

Looking Ahead to Next Week:

1. In Literacy, we will continue our Duck Diaries, adding in some non-fiction facts we learned and discovered about Ducklings.

2. In math, we will look at money and create a graph of our Ducklings weight.

3. In Science, we will continue with our Animal Life Cycle Unit, looking closely at animal life cycles of different animals.
