Week 20 (Feb 12 - 14)

 Happy Short Week!

This week in literacy, we talked about how to finish our descriptive writing with 'effective endings'.  We also created a checklist of all the parts we need in our writing for it to be complete, so we know when our writing is finished. The grade 2 & 3's worked hard to complete their good copy and a diagram about their animal.  In word work, we reviewed the vowel teams, ew, ui and ue that create the long u sounds in words.

This week in math, we continued our focus on subtraction problems with regrouping.  We continued to look at different ways to regroup and spend lots of time practising how to solve them.

In Science this week, we continued exploring sound energy, how it is transferred and produced by vibrations.  We did two different experiments, buzzing combs and hitting metal spoons again a desk to see if sounds can travel through solids.  We also worked on writing up our experiments, using the Scientific method.

In gym this week, we did some dancing. The grade 2 & 3's had a great time listening and moving to different kinds of music.  We finished our week with Valentine's Day. We created special Gnome bags to bring our Valentine's home in. Also, this week, Room 7 worked hard at displaying acts of Kindness and thinking carefully about what words and how we say to each other.
