Week 28 ( April 22- 26)

 In Literacy this week, we completed various writing tasks with different purposes.  On Monday, for Earth Day, we listened to some stories about the importance of taking care of our Earth (Na'Na).  Then we wrote about 4 different ways we can protect the Earth.  We also created our own Earth and heart using weaving. We also wrote Thank-you cards for our support staff as part of Staff Appreciation week.



In math this week, the grade 2's the worked more on place value with numbers up to 1000.  The grade 3'scontinued to work on their multiplication chart, learning the 4,8, 3 and 6 times tables this week.  

In Science this week, the grade 2/3's learned about simple machines and how forces help simple machines do work.  The students also designed and built their own catapults.  Then on Thursday, they tested their designs in the Great catapult shot!





In gym this week, we continued with gymnastics.  This week, we added trestles and benches to our mat stations.  We continued working on our routines with the new equipment, working on travelling, balances and shapes on the gymnastics equipment. 



Looking Ahead to Next Week:

1. In Literacy, we will continue working on writing good sentences.

2. In math, the grade 2's will continue to review place value to 1000 and the grade3's will continue learning about Multiplication, looking closely at the multiplication chart and beginning to learn the facts.

3. In Science, we will begin our new unit on Earth Sciences.  In Social Studies, we will conclude our study of a Prairie Community and Ukraine.
