Week Four ( Sept 25 - 28th )

In literacy this week, we completed some writing based on the many events we had this week.  We read a story called, Shi-Shi- Etko, who is an Indigenous girl preparing to go to residential school.  She prepares to go to school by making a memory bag. We discussed what would go into our memory bags, drew pictures of 5 things that we would put in our memory bags, and then wrote a sentence about why we put in each item.

In math this week, we focused on comparing and ordering numbers.  We reviewed the symbols we use, greater than, less than and equal to.  Then the grade 3's practised with numbers to 1000 and the grade 2's practised with numbers to 10 000.

This week in Social Studies, we began some work with the Medicine wheel and it's teachings.  We reviewed the different colours, their meanings and teachings of whole body wellness.

In gym, we spent the week playing Gaga ball.  The grade 2's and 3's had a great time playing different versions of the game, jailbreak and infinity.

Looking Ahead to Next Week:

1. In Literacy, we will begin looking at our writing process for the year.  Plan, Draft, Revise!

3. In Word Work, we will begin reviewing long & short vowel sounds.

Important Reminders:
